In high school, Samantha’s biology teacher noticed her interest and encouraged her to consider a degree in the sciences. This teacher helped her engage with the once-intimidating material in new and creative ways and encouraged her to see her potential. Following her teacher’s advice, Samantha pursued a degree in Biology at The University of Akron. While there, she tutored her peers in upper level science courses. After graduation, Samantha worked in a lab conducting experiments related to ecology. She was soon promoted to a lab manager position where she gained experience as a mentor to undergraduates in a research setting. In 2019, Samantha decided to pursue a career as a Biology teacher. She is currently enrolled in a teacher certification program at Point Park University with the goal of beginning her teaching career in the fall of 2020. Now on the path to becoming a teacher herself, Samantha helps her clients to cultivate confidence in the classroom by reframing learning as an attainable and enjoyable process.
